The pronoun сам (myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself) denotes a person who performs an action independently and unassisted.

Винот сделал это сам.

Vinod did it himself.

           

He объясняй мне. Я сам хочу понять

Don't explain it to me. I want to  understand it myself.

           

Она сама это знает.

She herself knows it.

        

Пусть он сам расскажет обо всём.

Let him tell everything himself.

 

The pronoun сам is also used to emphasise the fact that some particular person or object is meant and not any other.

Сам министр приказал.       

The minster himself gave orders.

 

Пришлa сам хозяйка.

The lady himself has come.

 

Она сама виновата в этом.  

Shе herself is to blame for this.

 

Скажи об этом не мне, а ему самому.

Don't say that to me but to him  personally.

 

The pronoun сам is used with the reflexive pronoun себя.

Ты плохо знаешь самого себя.    

You don't know yourself well enough.

 

Он обвинял во всём только самоro себя.    

Не blamed only himself for everything.

The pronoun самый with meaning of the same, the very; and the most is used when it is followed by the pronoun этот or тот with the meaning this very or that very:

Она сказала мне то же самое, что и ты.

Shе told me the same as you did.

 

Джон учился на той же самой группе.

John studied in the very same group.

 

Это тот самый студент.

He is that very student.

 

The pronoun самый with meaning of the same, the very; and the most is used with nouns denoting place or time to show the extreme limit (in space or time):

Дождь шёл с самого утра.    

It has been raining since early morning.

 

Лодка остановилась у самого беpera.         

The boat stopped right at the bank.
