Interrogative pronouns кто? who?, что? what?

 

The interrogative pronouns include:

кто? who?

что? what?

какой? what (sort of)?

чей? whose?

который? which ?

сколько? how many?, how much?

 

The pronouns кто? who? and что? what? have no gender and number. Words which are adjuncts to the pronouns кто? and что? take the singular.

Кто идёт?      

Who goes there?

 

Что виднеется вдали?          

What can you see in the distance?

 

Words which are adjuncts to the pronoun кто? take the masculine:

Кто пришёл? 

Who has come?

Кто готов?     

Who is ready?

Words which are adjuncts to the pronoun что take the neuter:

Что случилось?         

What has happened?

 

Что произошло здесь?
