Negative Pronouns никто (nobody), ничто(nothing)

The pronouns никто, ничто, are formed by adding the negative particle ни to the interrogative pronouns кто, что.

The negative pronouns are declined as the corresponding inter­rogative pronouns.

The predicate of a sentence containing the negative pronoun никто, ничто, is invariably preceded by the negative particle не.

Никто не сказал мне об этом.

Nobody talked to me about it.

 

Её ничто не интересует.

Shе is not interested  in anything.

 

The pronouns никто and ничто  are generally used either as the subject of the sentence or as the object:

Никто не ответил на мой вопрос.    

Nobody answered my question.

Ничто не мешает ему заниматься    

Nothing interferes with his studies.

Я никого не встретил по дороге сюда.

I met nobody on my way here.

Он ничего не забыл.

Не forgot nothing.

В комнате никого нет.

There is nobody in the room.

Я никому не скажу об этом.

I won't tell anyone about it.

 

Prepositions and the pronouns никто and ничто are spelt as separate words. The preposition is placed between the particle ни and the pronoun (кто or что):

Ни у кого нет этого романа.

Nobody has that novel

Я завтра ни к кому не пойду.

I won't go to see anyone tomorrow.

Директор ни за что не согласится.

The director will never agree.

Она  ни  с кем  не  простился.

She did not say good-bye to anyone.

Я его ни о чём не спрашивал

I did not ask him about anything.
